The Twitter account of Mita Murati, the chief technology officer of artificial intelligence firm OpenAI, has seemingly been hacked with the latest tweet promoting a “scam” cryptocurrency token.
On June 2, Murati’s account tweeted what appears to be a phishing link promising an airdrop of a purported ERC-20 token OPENAI named after the firm that created ChatGPT.

We proudly present $OPENAI, a groundbreaking token driven by artificial intelligence-based language models.

Visit https://t.co/Zk3Ez2Vo9O to see if you are eligible for an airdrop directly to your $ETH address.

The tweets author restricted who could reply to the tweet so others are unable to easily warn the link is a scam.
Twitter users have, however, warned of the scam with many theorizing Murati was victim to a SIM-swapping attack.
